Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis (Saint Louis Cathedral) was completed on 1914. The cathedral was named for St Louis. It was designated as a Cathedral Basilica by Pope John Paul II in 1997, and Pope John II made the historic visit in 1999.

The church is known for its mosaics, one of the largest in the Western Hemisphere and the addition of an outdoor sculpture emphasizing of harmony, peace, and racial justice.

The mosaics inside the Cathedral are incredible. It took nearly 80 years to create using more than 41 million pieces of glass tesserae. I could stay there for days just looking at mosaics.

At the church basement, there was a museum offering the history of the church.
